First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way… I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling… I Tim. 2:1-2;8

Twice in this short chapter, Paul reminds Timothy that we ought to be characterized by prayer for the entire world from a heart of love for the entire world. Such a prayer life is essential for anyone desiring to be a living witness to the good news of Jesus which has the power to save souls.

Some questions for consideration today are:

  • Who was praying for your salvation before you met Jesus?
  • Who are you praying for and how are you praying for them?
  • If every lost person you prayed for today got saved, how many people would be eternally rescued as a result of your prayer life today?

Father in Heaven, help us to be characterized by a prayer life with you that reflects your heart for the world. Amen.
