Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. Jn. 15:13
Father in Heaven, thank You for those who have sacrificially given their lives that we might live free. They paid a price none of us ever have, and from which we all will forever benefit. Thank you for the courage You placed in their hearts to model for us what this greatest level of love truly looks like.
Thank you for our Ultimate Hero, Jesus Christ, who led the way for these others to follow. Laying His life down for us, He also took Your wrath upon Himself to pay for all we’ve done that makes us unworthy of the gifts, the freedom and the love that You so graciously long to bestow on us. We deserve none of this, yet You have given it all.
For this reason, we give ourselves to You, that You might glorify Yourself through us. Use us as light to light up the darkness in this world and to point others back to You. We praise You for all You’ve done, all You’re doing, and all that You plan to do.
Father in Heaven, glorify Your name.
